You may have read that one of my favorite "jobs" is being "Mom" to my precious pets... Let me introduce you to them.
First, there is Mandy. She is a Shetland Sheepdog (Sheltie). She is a very loving, sensitive little girl who stole our hearts the first time we saw her.
After having Mandy for a few years, we decided that she needed a companion-- and as chance would have it, the people that we had purchased her from has a couple of puppies available. We chose the most adorable little bundle of fur and name him Kolby. He is much larger than Mandy, but is so submissive and gentle with her. He totally adores her, as she does him. They are best friends!
Then, someone apparently decided that we needed a cat to go along with our two dogs, because one afternoon, a scrawny, starving little kitten appeared at our home. He was in pretty rough shape and had a bad wound on one of his legs. We really didn't think we wanted a kitten, but just couldn't turn our backs on him, so we fed him and took care of his leg. He flourished.. and Mandy and Kolby accepted him as part of the family. We decided to name him Mr. Fat T. Cat, or Mr. Fat for short... and he definitely lives up to his name! ;-)
And then, this past year, a feral cat brought her new litter of kittens to our barn. We managed to catch one of the little fur-balls, taming him over time and he is the newest addition to our family. Kimberly chose to name him "Recon"-- each kitten had been given a military term as a name-- based on their individual personalities. While I know that I have lots of pictures of Recon on my computer, I can't seem to locate them at this time... I will post his picture later, but take my word for it, he's a beauty! :-)
Welcome to blogland! Wonderful pics of the fur kids :) I jumped here from Leona's blog where you had left a comment and mentioned that you are brand new! Welcome to big fun! I myself am still on this side of the fence, but plan this year to make the same leap as you have made...into blogville as well. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the wonderful world of blogging! It is a little addictive but so much fun. What a beautiful furry family!
ReplyDeleteI hope blogging brings you friends from all over as it has me. I am smiling because my most wonderful dog ever was a sheltie. It completely stole my heart and I had to buy it to get my heart back. That dog was a master with words and never needed a leash, spending 14 years no farther than one foot from my left leg. A more loving pet would be hard to find. And cats... that's how we got ours too.
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy blogging as much as I do - it has opened my eyes to a whole new world and connected me to some lovely people - love the fur babies. Give them a scratch from me!
ReplyDeleteYour pets sound wonderful! Our 2 cats showed up last summer as poor neglected stray kittens and are now the proud owners of.......us! Hope you continue blogging!
